En un notable fin de semana de verano, el viernes 11 y el sábado 12 de julio de 1986, Queen presentó dos recitales con localidades agotadas en Wembley, conciertos que han sido ampliamente reconocidos como dos de los eventos de rock más increíbles jamás montados.
Ahora, por vez primera, ambos conciertos de las noches del viernes y del sábado pueden ser vistos en su totalidad en el DVD Edición 25º Aniversario, resaltando que no había dos espectáculos de Queen iguales. La lluvia dominante durante el concierto del viernes por la noche presentó su propio desafío pero no logró aguar el humor o la música, ofreciendo a Freddie Mercury diviertiendo al público. El sol salió durante el sábado, transformándolo en una mágica tarde de verano, mientras la banda exhibía todo lo que hacía a Queen brillante en vivo.
Las imágenes del DVD han sido restauradas para la edición Aniversario, y el sonido ha sido también remasterizado, con una nueva mezcla estéreo y sonido 5.1.
Los extras en el DVD incluyen The Magic Tour, una sección corta con nuevas entrevistas a Brian May y Roger Taylor filmadas en 2011. Queen Live At Wembley Stadium se lanzó en Europa el 5 de septiembre de 2011, coincidiendo con lo que habría sido el cumpleaños 65° de Freddie Mercury. Los últimos cinco álbumes de estudio que Queen publicó se reeditaron también el mismo día.
“Los conciertos de Wembley en 1986 fueron la cima para nosotros” - ha dicho Brian May. “Estábamos en nuestro punto más alto como banda, y Freddie había desarrollado esa forma fenomenal de tratar con las audiencias en estadios. Estar de vuelta en casa, en Londres, presentando dos noches con localidades agotadas significó una gran, gran ocasión para nosotros. Ninguno de nosotros se dio cuenta de que esta sería práticamenteee la última vez que tocaríamos juntos...”.
La gira Magic Tour en 1986 había sido la más exitosa de Queen hasta esa fecha. Regenerados y revigorizados por su triunfo en Live Aid casi exactamente un año antes, la banda estaba realizando una gira de 26 fechas por el Reino Unido y Europa, y retornaron a Londres tras un mes fuera del país para tocar dos conciertos distinguidos en ‘el lugar de los campeones’, el Estadio De Wembley.
Para Queen, iba a significar el mayor escenario, su mayor parrilla de luces y la mayor pantalla con la que se hubieran presentado, pero también que el Estadio De Wembley jamás hubiera visto. Para el director Gavin Taylor, filmarlos requirió el uso sin precedentes de no menos de 15 cámaras, y un helicóptero para capturar tomas aéreas.
Para Freddie fue el inicio de una fiesta muy larga. Hizo volar a sus amigos desde Nueva York y los llevó desde su casa en Londres hasta Wembley en coches especiales. Fue uno de los días de más orgullo de su vida.
El espectáculo del sábado encontró una víspera lluviosa transformada en uno de los días más soleados del año. "Fue un día perfecto" ha dicho el director Taylor. Y el rugido de Wembley se alzó mientras Brian, Roger, John y Freddie salían a escena con los acordes iniciales sintetizados de One Vision.
Durante los siguientes 110 minutos Queen ofreció lo que sería indudablemente una de las más potentes presentaciones en concierto. Los dos directos en Wembley, junto a una fecha final agregada a último momento en el Knebworth Park de Stevenage un mes después, estuvieron fácilmente entre los mejores momentos de Queen.
"El Estadio De Wembley era un lugar tan especial" – ha dicho Roger. "Después de tocar allí como parte de Live Aid, volver y presentarnos allí de nuevo fue sensacional".

Como resultaron las cosas, sin embargo, Queen solamente tocó dos fechas más en el Reino Unido, en Manchester el 16 de julio y el concierto final en Knebworth el 9 de agosto.

In a remarkable summer weekend, on Friday 11th and Saturday July 12, 1986, Queen presented two sold-out concerts at Wembley, concerts which have been widely recognized as two of the most incredible rock events ever staged.
Now, for the first time, both concerts Friday nights and Saturday can be viewed in full on the 25th Anniversary Edition DVD, highlighting that no two Queen shows equal. The dominant rain during the concert Friday night presented its own challenges but failed to dampen the mood or the music, giving audiences diviertiendo Freddie Mercury. The sun came out on Saturday, transforming it into a magical summer evening, as the band showed everything that made Queen brilliant live.
DVD images have been restored for the Anniversary edition and the sound has also been remastered with a new stereo mix and 5.1 sound.
The extras on the DVD include The Magic Tour, a short section with new interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor filmed in 2011. They recall which end up being his last tour with intelligence, honesty, playfulness and humor great family. The tour Magic Tour in 1986 had been the Queen's most successful to date. Regenerated and reinvigorated by their triumph at Live Aid almost exactly a year earlier, the band was on a tour of 26 dates for the UK and Europe, and returned to London after a month out of the country to play two concerts distinguished 'the place of champions', Wembley Stadium.

For the next 110 minutes Queen offered what would undoubtedly be one of the most powerful live performances. The two live in Wembley, with an end date added at the last minute in Stevenage Knebworth Park a month later, were easily among the highlights of Queen.
"Wembley Stadium was a special place" - said Roger. "After playing there as part of Live Aid, and introduce back there again was sensational."
Perhaps not surprisingly, We Will Rock You, the Queen musical success, showing that the heroes of the show end up arriving at Wembley Stadium, 'the place where rock lives', for the overwhelming end where the roots of rock are rediscovered and rebellious bohemians find their way to recreate the music of the Mighty Queen.
In the DVD Freddie Mercury addresses the audience: "There have been some rumors that we are going to separate.'re Talking sh *" - says Freddie. "We will be together forever."
"And in a way" - Brian says - "I guess we were. Might not have been a touring band much longer, but we were together as a band until the very end."
"I think anyone expected the Magic tour dates were the last band, things had gone so well and we were already planning the next tour" - said Gerry Stickells, representing Queen Tour - "There was also no sense of closure ".
As things turned out, however, Queen only played two more dates in the UK, in Manchester on July 16 and the final concert at Knebworth on August 9.
But if you ever needed a reminder of why Queen earned for himself the nickname of best stadium rock group in history, you just have to get this DVD to see Queen live, uncut and in their prime, fierce and majestic.
